School Holiday Solutions (SHS) was created and is led by Catherine Morin and Jane Linney.
Catherine was born in France and has lived in the UK for the last 27 years. Catherine has personal experience of being an Au Pair and has spent many years working with children and young adults teaching French. Jane is a lawyer and trained risk assessor. Both Catherine and Jane are bilingual in French and English.
As working mothers, Catherine and Jane know at first hand all about the competing demands of pursuing a career, raising children and managing childcare in the long school holidays. Their experiences led to the development of SHS.
The key motivating factor behind SHS is Catherine and Jane’s firm belief that the very best childcare begins at home with you and your family. Put simply, time at home together as a family is precious. However, the pressures on families today both from work and school conspire to reduce the amount of time we spend together as families at home.
For parents, the stress of “sorting out” the school holidays can seem overwhelming – mixing and matching cover with friends, grandparents and holiday courses can be a tricky and expensive business.
For children, there are so many demands on them during term time from school and their various out of school clubs and activities.
It’s not surprising that our children feel “schooled-out” and exhausted by the time the holidays arrive. Having some space in life for supervised downtime based at home to play, relax and mix with friends away from school-like environments is more important now for our children than it ever has been.
